Wait. Did John Stewart accidentally design Lex Luthor’s pocket universe?

That’s the question episode 6 of Lanterns dropped in my lap and never answered, and I can’t stop looking at it. Before I get into it — I want to be clear this is a theory, not a leak, not a confirmation, just a read on a visual I can’t unsee.

The pitch that started this

Ten years after Rushville, John’s out of the Corps and running an architecture firm with his brother Marcus. He’s pitching “arks” — massive panic-room clusters built to protect Midway City the next time something apocalyptic happens. And the reason cities need those arks in the first place is Lex Luthor, whose pocket-universe rift nearly swallowed Metropolis whole in Superman.

So John’s entire career, post-Green Lantern, exists because of what Lex did. Fine. That’s the text of the episode. But it’s the visual of his concept — the shape of it, the design language — that stopped me cold.

I mean, call me crazy, but does this not look like John’s concept? I mean, at least a little bit of it.

Paths crossing before the movie even starts

Here’s what we actually know going in: John Stewart is confirmed for Man of Tomorrow, and by every account so far — Gunn’s own comments included — that movie is going to be more about Lex than anybody else, Superman included. We also know John’s got a real role in it, not a cameo.

I’m not saying John worked with Lex. I don’t buy that for a second. But paths crossing before the movie kicks off? That I can see. And if Lex ever got a look at John’s architectural concept — the same designs built specifically to survive Lex-level catastrophe — twisting someone else’s blueprint into something worse wouldn’t exactly be out of character for him.

I don’t think John would have worked with Lex, but I do think that their paths might have crossed ways before, and Lex may have taken John’s art concept and twisted it into his little pocket universe.

The show hasn’t confirmed a Brainiac connection, a team-up reason, or anything about John’s actual role in the film yet — this episode is deliberately keeping Man of Tomorrow under wraps. Which is exactly why a visual echo this specific is worth flagging instead of ignoring. None of it’s locked in. It’s just a theory I can’t shake.
