Scarlett Johansson going to Gotham was never going to stay simple, and now the whole story’s flipped.

What WB told us vs. what leaked

When Matt Reeves confirmed Johansson for The Batman: Part II back in May, he gave fans nothing but a gif and “Next exit, Gotham.” No character name, no costume, no hint. The reporting that filled the silence pointed to Gilda Gold — Harvey Dent’s wife from the comics, a tragic figure who watches her husband turn into Two-Face. That’s the version that’s been treated as the working answer for months.

Now a new leak out of the DCULeaks subreddit — reportedly vetted by mods with proof before it got pulled — is telling a completely different story: Johansson isn’t playing anyone’s wife. She’s the movie’s main villain, described as “a serial killer obsessed with plants who murders her victims with toxins.” Read that description out loud and there’s only one name it points to: Poison Ivy.

The receipts actually line up

This isn’t coming out of nowhere. Before the trades locked in on the Gilda narrative, the original report on Johansson’s talks reportedly had Pamela Isley on the shortlist the entire time, per Nexus Point News. And Reeves has been saying for a while that Part II’s villain is one “never really been done in a movie before.” A grounded, realistic Ivy who kills with toxins instead of pheromone mind control? That checks the box.

Sebastian Stan’s supposedly caught in the same reshuffle — the same leak has him as a bald, blade-wielding killer that fans are pegging as Victor Zsasz, not Harvey Dent. If that’s real, the entire Two-Face theory this cast was built around just got thrown out.

Nothing here is confirmed. WB hasn’t said a word, and leaks like this get walked back all the time. But if the studio spent six months letting everyone believe “Gilda Dent” while quietly building a version of Poison Ivy nobody’s ever seen on screen — that’s not a leak. That’s a con, and a good one.
